THE SQUARE, HALE BARNS

The Square shopping centre is situated in the leafy and prosperous Hale Barns near Altrincham.

Constructed in the 1960s, the old shopping centre had long failed to deliver the quality of retail provision required in this affluent suburb of Manchester.

Planning consent was secured to develop a 30,000 sq ft food store (pre-let to Booths foodstore), 12,000 sq ft of additional retail space and 24 exclusive residential units.

Booths was established in 1847 and is still a family-owned business renowned for sourcing quality foods, many produced by local farmers, with a network of more than 30 food stores across Northern England.

Booths foodstore and the additional retail units were forward funded by a client of CBRE Global Investors in April 2014. Practical completion was achieved in March 2015.

Booths opened for business in April 2015 followed by Costa Coffee and Pets Corner.

All retail enquiries should be directed to Warwick Smither at Cheetham & Mortimer on 0161 832 3375.
